The new Sea Isle City Community Center is nearing completion and will soon become one of the most valuable year-round amenities in Sea Isle City. Designed as a modern hub for recreation, fitness, meetings, and family programming, this 44,000-square-foot facility adds meaningful value for residents, property owners, and visitors.

Below is a comprehensive overview of the SIC Community Center, including amenities, parking, hours, fees, membership requirements, and a dedicated section explaining what this means specifically for renters and guests of 2nd Chance Sunrise.

Location and Parking

The Sea Isle City Community Center is located at 4500 Central Avenue, between 45th and 46th Streets, at the intersection of Central Avenue and Park Road.

Parking is free and includes an outdoor lot on the Central Avenue side of the building and a garage located beneath the facility. Overnight parking is not permitted in either the lot or the garage. The garage entrance and exit gates will be shut and locked whenever the Community Center is closed.

Main Level Amenities

The main level of the Community Center is designed to support both active recreation and general community use.

Gymnasium

The large gymnasium includes an NBA-size basketball court with six basketball nets around the perimeter, spectator bleachers, and a retractable curtain that allows the gym floor to be divided into two separate spaces. In addition to basketball, the floor is striped for three pickleball courts and one volleyball court. Portable ping-pong tables will also be available during scheduled ping pong sessions.

Additional Main Level Spaces

The main level also features a large Community Meeting Room equipped with a stage and a modern kitchen. A Fitness Classroom will host instructor-led exercise classes, while the Arts and Crafts Room will be used for instructional programs and special activities. The Quiet Room offers a calm environment for reading, puzzles, sensory activities, and relaxation. The spacious atrium lobby includes ample seating, and an outdoor patio is accessible from the lobby.

Upper Level Amenities

The upper level expands the Community Center’s fitness, recreation, and meeting options.

Amenities include an elevated walking and running track and an adjacent exercise area with two stationary bicycles, two rowing machines, two elliptical machines, kettlebells, and hand weights. The upper level also includes a Golf Simulator Room, a Multi-Ball Game Room, a General Meeting Room for civic meetings and seminars, and the Sea Isle City Board of Education Office.

General Use and Fee Structure

The fee structure outlined below was introduced with the first reading of ordinance #1730 by City Council on December 23. These fees will only become official if adopted during the second reading scheduled for January 27, 2026.

General Use of the Community Center includes access to open gym sessions, scheduled adult basketball and volleyball sessions, the walking and running track, exercise equipment adjacent to the track, the Quiet Room, and any free community activities, civic meetings, or publicly advertised events held in the building.

General Use is free for children age 17 and under. It is also free for Sea Isle City property owners and year-round residents on any day the facility is open.

A property owner is defined as anyone who owns residential or commercial property in Sea Isle City, including second homes and rental properties. This definition also includes spouses and children under the age of 18. A year-round resident is anyone whose primary domicile is in Sea Isle City for twelve months of the year, including renters whose main residence is located in town.

Fees are required for General Use for non-property owners and non-year-round residents. The rates are five dollars per day per person, forty dollars per month per person, or one hundred twenty dollars per year per person. Seasonal and summer renters are not considered year-round residents and are therefore subject to these fees.

Pickleball Fees and Court Use

Pickleball now carries usage fees during specific days and times.

The fee structure includes five dollars per day per person, one hundred dollars per year for Sea Isle City residents and property owners, and one hundred fifty dollars per year for non-residents and non-property owners. These fees provide access to both indoor and outdoor courts when fees are required.

Indoor pickleball sessions at the Community Center will require fees from November 1 through March 31, with varying times based on skill level. Outdoor pickleball courts located at 42nd Place and West Jersey Avenue will require fees daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. After 12:00 noon, outdoor courts are free for the remainder of the day and remain free at all other times of the year.

Advanced and intermediate players use the 42nd Place Marina courts, while beginner and family play is directed to the West Jersey Avenue courts. Pickleball fees do not guarantee access to a specific court, as usage is managed by Recreation staff based on policy and seasonal demand.

Players who purchase an annual pickleball pass will receive a Pickleball Tag, similar in appearance to a beach tag. Tags can be purchased through the Recreation Office’s online Rec Desk system and picked up at the Community Center front desk. Players paying the daily rate may pay the recreation attendant on site.

Golf Simulator Fees

The Community Center’s Golf Simulator is available for group use, with a maximum of four people per group. Non-peak rates are fifty-five dollars per hour per group. Peak rates are seventy-five dollars per hour per group.

Peak times are Monday through Friday from 5:00 p.m. until closing, as well as all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Parents Night Out

Parents Night Out programs will be hosted periodically by the Sea Isle City Recreation Office. These sessions provide supervised activities for children and are offered for a fee of twenty dollars per child per session, with an additional ten dollars for each sibling within the same family. Scheduling, location, duration, and activities are determined by Recreation staff.

Fitness Classes and Additional Program Fees

Certain programs and activities, including specific fitness classes and events hosted by contracted vendors, will require additional fees. Sit-Fit-Seniors classes will remain free and are considered part of General Use, as is access to the Multi-Ball Room.

Fitness classes hosted by the Recreation Office, such as Total Body Fitness, will continue to cost five dollars per class per person. Participants may alternatively purchase a monthly fitness pass for forty dollars per person per month. The previous punch card system will no longer be used.

Sea Isle City civic organizations, including AARP Chapter 710, the Sea Isle City Garden Club, and the Sea Isle City Women’s Civic Club, will continue to have free use of the Community Center’s meeting rooms.

Membership Cards and Rec Desk Registration

All individuals age 18 and older must display a Community Center Membership Card upon entering the building, regardless of residency or property ownership. Membership cards are required even when participating in activities that require separate fees, such as pickleball, the golf simulator, or ticketed events.

To obtain a Membership Card, users must first create an account in the Sea Isle City Recreation Office’s online Rec Desk system. Property owners must upload a tax document, while year-round residents who rent must upload a copy of their lease or a utility bill. Non-property owners and non-year-round residents can pay for membership directly through Rec Desk.

Once an account is created, Membership Cards can be picked up in person at the Community Center front desk. Photo identification is required. Assistance with setting up a Rec Desk account is available through the Recreation Office at 609-263-0050 during normal business hours.

Planned Hours of Operation

The Community Center’s planned operating hours are as follows:

Monday through Thursday: 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m .Sunday: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The facility will be closed on select holidays.

Opening Timeline and Recreation Office

Construction on the Community Center is wrapping up, with a targeted public opening in late January or early February 2026. Information regarding a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony will be shared through Sea Isle City’s social media channels and e-news system.

Once open, the Community Center will serve as the new home of the Sea Isle City Recreation Office. The Recreation Office can be reached year-round at 609-263-0050.

What This Means for Renters and Guests of 2nd Chance Sunrise

For guests staying at 2nd Chance Sunrise, the new Community Center is a short walk away and adds a significant year-round amenity, particularly during shoulder seasons, off-season stays, and inclement weather.

Guests will have access to indoor basketball, pickleball, and volleyball, a walking and running track, fitness equipment, a Quiet Room for downtime, and family-friendly programming such as Parents Night Out. The golf simulator provides an additional entertainment option for evenings in town.

Guests should note that General Use fees apply, as seasonal renters are not considered year-round residents. A Community Center Membership Card is required for adults, and certain activities such as pickleball and the golf simulator require separate fees.

Overall, the Sea Isle City Community Center extends the experience well beyond the beach, offering flexibility, convenience, and added value for guests of 2nd Chance Sunrise. It enhances the appeal of staying mid-island with easy access to recreation, fitness, and community activities throughout the year.
